Amazon KDP: This doubled my book sales almost overnight
It's so obvious I couldn't believe I didn't see it

I have a book in a niche where all the other books look like they came out of the same mother.
One glance at the search results and you wonder if you, as a buyer, should be offended.
Very much like this niche:
This bizarre copy-and-paste fest mixed with blatant AI will make anyone with half a brain put their wallet swiftly away. And don’t get me started on the book covers, are we suddenly back in the 90’s?
But…
Based on my research, “intermittent fasting for women over 50” is actually a lucrative keyword.
Which can only mean one thing -
It’s the perfect place to shine.
Let’s rewind back to when I first published that book in a similar-looking niche.
My problem was this:
I followed the (wrong) advice to create a “trending” book cover (ie. similar to everyone else), to create familiarity for the buyer (load of bs).
I had a USP, but didn’t advertise it enough in my book description, (and sadly, book subtitle, which you can’t change once published).
Despite my efforts, the book was soon dead.
But as I kept learning more about publishing, I realized where the book was falling flat on its face. So I changed everything I could, and made:
A brand new book cover with modern aesthetics and contrasting highly to the rest of them
I explained and advertised my USP in the book description section, including bullet points and proper formatting
I made sure the book description sounds as human-written, with the human-buyer in mind, as possible
In a few days, I saw some sales and the book is now at around 5 sales a day.
The lesson:
If what you see is boring you have to differ.
If what you see is saturated with duplicates of the same thing you have to differ.
No matter how lucrative your niche might be -
If your book is just another limping white sheep it won’t sell.
And you better watch out - there might be wolves about.
